Summer Business

Last summer my two 13 year old twin boys were complaining they wanted to make money for video games and other things they wanted. They also wanted to start a little business, anything. We were brain storming. So I came up with something simple. We will post a free ad on craigslist, saying something this, summer is coming time to clean your yard. 100 dollars a day call xxx-xxx-xxxx. Guess what? The phone rang. About 5 miles away a home owner wanted his yard cleaned. My boys and I went there to look at the yard. It was a big yard with many trees. About two days of work of picking up branches, twigs and raking up leaves. My kids got enough money they wanted for things they wanted. About a week later the phone rang again. It was the neighbor of the yard we just cleaned. She didn’t get the number from craigslist, she got it from her neighbor. She told me she notice my boys and I had good work ethic and she needed her outdoor furniture cleaned sanded and repainted. That was about a days worth, but she called again wanted her garage cleaned and re-organized. A week later

her and her husband called again from Lowes wanting to know if they purchased a gazebo, could I pick it up and put it together? Of course I asked my two partners. They were thrilled. So there you go, just about 5 days of work and 500.00 dollars from one free ad. I got a chance to show my kids a little about free enterprise and got a chance to work together.
